Edward Willard is mentioned when Abiel Cook's estate was settled in Kalamazoo,
Michigan. Edward Willard was probably a son-in-law because the other names
which were not Cook's in this settlement were son-in-laws. In the legal
documents concerning Abiel Cook's death it said one of his children was
Mary Ann Cook married to Edward Willard and living in Michigan. The only
Edward Willard in the census records in Michigan was married to a woman by
the name of Margaret. Sometime Mary Ann is a nickname for Margaret. This
        could be the same person.

GONE TO HER REWARD. Grandmother Willard as she was famillerally known to a large circle of friends, died last Monday at the home of her son M. Willard near Princeville, where she has been making her home for some years. She was one of the earliest settlers in this part of the country and was well known to the older residents of this city, having lived here until about fifteen years ago, when she went to live with her son as stated above, she was in the nintieth year of her age. The funeral services were held at the R. E. Church Wednesday and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetary south of town. She was always ppatient, kind and cheerful and a life example to all with whom she associated. Her illness she bore patiently and seemed to look forward with anticipations of joy to the time when death would relieve her suffering body from pain. She was a noble Christian woman, honoring her God in life, and died in the firm hope and trust in his goodness and mercy.
