    Dr. Max B. Welcker, 59, died April 4, 1994 at his home in Highland, Utah. Born May 31, 1934 of goodly parents, Louis F. and Rowena Walker Welcker. He married Darlene Davies September 9, 1955 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He received his B.A. degree and PhD from the University of Utah and his M.A.T. degree from Colorado State University. He taught and coached track at Tooele High, served as Principal in the Tooele and Jordan school districts. He was a Professor and Assistant to the President at Dixie College. He served in many capacities at the U. of U.: Administrative Assistant to Academic V.P.; Registrar; Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Services; Director - Davis U of U; Visiting Professor of Educational Management, Northeast London Polytechnic University - London, England; Professor at U of U and BYU; Superintendent, Alpine School District. In conjunction with his career, he was a writer and presenter of numerous publications and papers throughout the country. He belonged to many professional associations and received honors and awards for his expertise in the field of education.His success came because of his great love and concern for his fellow man. He touched the lives of others by example and many called him "their Hero." An active member of the LDS church, he served in many capacities, including bishoprics and high councils. He was presently serving as a Temple Missionary. He is survived by his wife, children; David and Terri, Julia and Dan Wood, Richard and Veronica, Paul and Janene, Phillip, Mark; and 20 grandchildren. Funeral Services will be Thursday, 2 p.m. in the Highland 13th Ward, 10390 North Alpine Highway. A viewing will be held at the Welcker home, 10644 North 5370 West, Highland, Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Alpine City Cemetery.
